One of the best hard enduro riders in the world, Chris Birch from New Zealand, has held an enduro coaching clinic at the NOMAD offroad center near Belgrade. His coaching clinic attended 10 riders from Serbia and the region, who have had a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best riders in the world, just a few days before the biggest hard enduro event, the Xross race in the Tara Mountain.
Besides being one of the bravest and the most capable enduro riders, under whose wheels have remained the world’s largest enduro races, Chris Birch is also known for coaching clinics held across the globe. His first clinic in the region was held today at the offroad center Nomad, and Birch has generously shared his knowledge with a group of enduro riders from Serbia.
Teaching was divided into theoretical and practical, proper adjustment of a motorbike, the correct position of the body in the motorbike, and use of the clutch, throttle, and brakes for maximum control, are just some of the lessons they have gone through. Judging by the impressions of our riders, this school was very useful.
- My impressions are excellent. We have learned so many new things, and it turned out that we were doing a lot of things wrong. None of us have ever had professional training in hard enduro, so the tips that Birch gave us are more than useful. We started from the basics, like the setting of the motorbike. We are now trying to use this new knowledge and to correct the mistakes that we made previously, although I do not believe that it will be much easier for us in the Tara this weekend – says Boža Ristić, one of the riders who attended the coaching clinic.
After the theoretical part, Birch then took his students to the field and demonstrated the techniques of jumping obstacles, as well as the techniques of riding fast in the difficult terrains, and like every good teacher, he dedicated his attention and time to every rider.
- This is the first day, but I am satisfied with how everything went. The guys are great and have a great desire to learn. Polygon is also excellent for this clinic because everything is in one place. However, the mountain will actually be a little different. I know that this is too much information for one day, but I hope they remembered a lot of things and that they will apply them this weekend at the Tara – says Birch.
Another coaching clinic, but for dual motorbike riders, will be held tomorrow at Tara Mountain. And after that, on Friday starts Xross Race, and Chris Birch, amongst other riders will be the one who will test his skills on the harsh terrain of this mountain.
I saw the Tara only in pictures on the internet, it seems to me as a beautiful mountain. I can’t wait for the race – said the “teacher” who has eight enduro champion titles in New Zealand.
